Crumple Zones

A crumple zone up front helps absorb impacts, helping to reduce the risk of injury to occupants. Inside the cabin, an energy-absorbing steering column compresses during frontal impacts to help reduce the chance of injury. A rear crumple zone is also built into the Z to help absorb impact and reduce the risk of injury to occupants.

Surrounding the passenger compartment are pipe-style steel side-door guard beams that help protect occupants in the event of side impacts.

Hood Buckling Creases

The hood is built to buckle at predetermined points while the engine, in frontal impacts, is designed to drop down and away from the passenger compartment. Even the driveshaft, is designed to collapse, further helping to reduce the risk of injury.

Immobiliser

Built into the key of the Z is a microchip that matches with a sensor in the steering column. Without that match, nothing happens. Sweet nothing.

Standard roof-mounted curtain side-impact supplemental air bags are designed to drop down and offer extra protection to the driver and passenger during certain types of collisions.






Seatbelt Pretensioners with load limiters

Not all seat belts are equal. The seatbelts inside the Z are equipped with pretensioners that sense a collision, and adjust to help secure the occupants as well as assure they are properly positioned for the air bags.
