The Nissan Z is a car that arrests attention, even when it's sitting still. So if you should ever decide to park your Z, be prepared to return to a driver's window full of fingerprints.

The body styling is unashamedly 'look-at-me'
Its quicksilver fluid body and monocle headlights are hypnotically riveting. Sure, the Z is all about high-performance driving. But it's also for those moments when you feel like some high-visibility cruising.

Wheel-oriented Design

Start with four wheels. Then, figure everything else out. That was the not-so-humble beginning of the Nissan Z. The result: A car that looks different at every angle. It's sleek and silent. It's aggressive and confident. It's a sports car whose looks are as unique as its abilities.

Door Handle Design

It's a door handle. It's a sculpture. It's a door handle like no other, on a car like no other.

Auto-Sealing Windows

The aerodynamics are so complete, even the side windows of the Z Roadster follow a two-step closing procedure. The Z's windows enhance the roof's rigidity and sealing through the use of an ingenious weather section that wraps over and is sealed by the door glass to assure an optimum water and wind-tight finish.

Wiper Sprayers

The Z is so aerodynamically efficient, that even the wiper sprayers were redesigned. Moved off the hood and tucked into the wipers themselves, the sprayers are better able to do their job at speed.

5-spoke 18" lightweight aluminium-alloy wheels are standard on all Z models.

Weight Distribution

Lightweight design

The driveshaft is made with carbon fiber. The hood, suspension and engine - as much aluminum as possible. The steering wheel, magnesium. Even the aluminum pedals are drilled. While all this innovation is daunting, it isn't nearly as difficult as trying to sell a sports car with anything less than mind-blowing acceleration. The carbon-fibre composite driveshaft means a significant reduction of the always-ugly rotating weight, while the liberal use of aluminum throughout the suspension means a 25% weight reduction versus standard materials. All for a nimble sports car that is as quick through the turns and off the line as it is out of the showroom.

Aerodynamic Design

In developing the Z Roadster's design the goal was to minimize air vortices that can buffet a convertible whilst maximising downforce.

The result? A convertible with a drag coefficient of just 0.34 Cd and an unparalleled Roadster experience.

Countless hours of wind tunnel testing has resulted in a windscreen, roof and tailgate design that works in harmony to inhibit the generation of air vortices around the rear window whilst maximising downforce at highway speeds.

Inhibiting air vortices means reduced vibration even at high speeds leaving you to enjoy the clear, sweet notes of the dual outlet exhaust as you explore your favourite stretch of blacktop.

Mid-ship Platform

The Z engine does more than just offer a quick ride up to highway speed. It also helps the Z flash through turns faster. By positioning the engine behind the front wheel axles, weight distribution is enhanced, for an exquisitely-balanced car in corners, which translates into more precise handling and quicker turns.

Weight Distribution

Every kilogramme, every milligramme for that matter, has been analysed for one magical result. A 53/47 weight distribution. It's a complex series of calculations that equate to a moment of perfection when it counts the most - in the apex of a turn. By positioning the engine behind the front wheels, more weight is up front for superior handling when the driver enters a turn. And at the precise moment the driver accelerates out of the apex, that weight distribution shifts rearward, and, magically, becomes an approximate 50/50 balance. Which translates to a high-performance driver's favourite word. Stability: Less cornering pitch. Better tire contact. Improved directional stability. Quicker turns.
